The most important principles for preventing accidents and significant consequences are quickly and easily outlined:

If – for example, in a storage room – hazardous materials still escape and vapors or gas mixtures form, the rule is: Avoid effective ignition sources in the potential explosion zone.

For such a hazardous situation, we have developed a highly effective IoT solution together with our partner company ROBIOTIC GmbH for DENIOS SE: The revolutionary hazardous material leakage warning system SpillGuard® connect. A true accolade for us: DENIOS is the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of products and services for operational environmental protection and workplace safety.
SpillGuard® connect is the first self-sufficient digitized leakage warning system ever: All detectors can be centrally monitored via a web application. In the event of a leak, individually configured alarm messages digitally transmit unambiguous alarms via SMS and/or email to various devices such as smartphones, tablets, and desktop PCs. Its size is comparable to a conventional smoke detector.
A special feature of the SpillGuard® connect detector is its ability to react to a wide variety of hazardous materials. And this is where it gets really interesting: Because if hazardous materials escape, higher temperatures must not be reached under any circumstances. This means: If explosive gas mixtures are in the air of the hazardous material storage area – then the warning device must not overheat too much during operation or when high charging capacities occur, nor must it emit sparks. Under no circumstances!
Technical Design of SpillGuard® connect: Completely Explosion-Proof
All SpillGuard® connect detectors guarantee this safety: Their Atex Zone 0 approval meets the strictest requirements for explosion protection. The technical design is such that no higher temperatures are generated during operation. Even if the device malfunctions, no additional sparks are generated. In plain language: Even if something breaks inside the device itself, the SpillGuard® connect is still secured by its design in such a way that nothing is created or happens that could lead to an explosion of the escaped hazardous materials in the environment. Precisely this desired behavior was the great challenge during development, which our experts successfully met.
The system has now proven itself in practical endurance tests and has not only convinced many users: SpillGuard® connect has already received two awards for the most innovative technical development – the “German Innovation Award 2020” and the “OWL Innovation Award for Market Visions 2021/22”.
