industrialpartners develops the high-tech product “Gentler” for KN Sales UG for calming and immobilization of large livestock
Recently, the topic of “animal welfare” has been discussed with great attention—and rightly so.
Two companies from the Odenwald region are providing technical support with a special, innovative veterinary product. To protect animals and people during difficult or dangerous medical treatments and care measures, such as hoof care, Industrialpartners GmbH, based in the Olfen district of Oberzent, developed the electrical stimulation therapy-based system “Gentler” for K+N SALES UG from Fränkisch-Crumbach.
Where previously restraint with clamping frames or the use of medication was usually necessary to keep the animals calm for the duration of a procedure, the “Gentler” offers a safe and gentle alternative to protect animals and people. Especially during dehorning, hoof care, initial milking, or other veterinary procedures, animals are often under stress and can become a major danger to people and themselves through kicks or uncontrolled movements.
The “Gentler,” weighing only 1.2 kg, effectively prevents this. It stimulates the animal’s nervous system with an electronic impulse, during which the ergonomically shaped tip of the probe is inserted rectally. The electrical stimulation impulse can then effectively calm the animal by temporarily numbing part of the muscles, which is completely harmless to the animal’s health in use.
Industrialpartners GmbH’s creative team in Oberzent—with its engineers and product designers—was responsible for the product’s electronic and mechanical development for K+N Sales, which is also leveraging the marketing of this innovative product concept, as well as the design development, product engineering, and industrialization from a single source, and for shaping the visual identity of the new “Gentler” brand.
In addition, a small series was produced at industrial scale, which helped shorten the product’s market entry. Thanks to the production method used by Industrialpartners—additive 3D manufacturing combined with novel surface treatments—the small series could be realized in extremely short timeframes, benefiting the launch of the “Gentler.”
The entire corporate product design surrounding the veterinary product used for marketing also comes from the designers at industrialpartners. This included the design of the product logo, claim, and product website, as well as the layout and production of the user manual and product brochure, through to the development and production of the product packaging,
