Pager F.R.E.D. is our next digital product innovation. F.R.E.D. stands for “First Response Emergency Deployment” – a digital alerting system that reliably and quickly guarantees security around the clock. It was developed in coordination with the people in the field who depend on technology that works reliably to save lives in an emergency. Together with them, we aligned the features the pager now offers: reliable 24/7 availability, fast alerting, and simple, intuitive operation – all in a compact, extremely rugged format.
F.R.E.D. is the ideal solution for all industries where security operations must be coordinated quickly and reliably:
- Fire departments can use F.R.E.D. to alert all required responders within seconds via group call, optimizing their operational planning.
- In emergency medical services, F.R.E.D. ensures reliable availability and enables rapid initiation of rescue operations.
- In home care services, the pager significantly improves internal coordination. With the integrated alarm button, it provides additional safety for staff providing in-home care.
- In event management, F.R.E.D. enables optimal organization, even at events with high network load.
How it works: fast, digital, redundant
Pager F.R.E.D. works simply, quickly, and reliably based on the two-way paging principle: availability is easy to read on each pager. The responsible dispatch or coordination center can see the current availability of each individual team member. After an alert is sent, the pager automatically transmits a receipt confirmation and allows user feedback. Depending on requirements, the GPS tracking of each device can be conveniently switched on and off manually.
In operation, the system enables reliable alerting of nearly 100% of all pager receivers in just a few seconds. Direct feedback to the dispatch center is provided via an automatic receipt confirmation. A network outage is also not anticipated: the patented IP-based data protocol ensures optimal reachability. This guarantees secure delivery of alerts even with weak signal strength and overloaded networks – ideal for large-scale events. In addition, a high security standard is ensured through end-to-end encryption at the data and protocol level and integrated VPN tunnels.
In developing F.R.E.D., the highest level of redundancy was also a priority: this was optimally implemented with a roaming SIM, a dual-SIM solution, or the international mobile standard LTE Cat M1. During operation, the system establishes a virtual leased line: each individual F.R.E.D. pager continuously checks its own connection and transmits its status to the operations center. Connection to the respective control systems is completely straightforward via open interfaces (API).
The technology: reliable, rugged, simple, straightforward
- Reliable alert function
Alerting on the pager works via three configurable functions: visual alerts via ultra-bright LEDs, audible alerts via a speaker with configurable ringtones, and alerts via strong vibration. An integrated alert reminder function increases reliability. Pager F.R.E.D. can be used bidirectionally: thanks to the user’s manual feedback option, it supports precise operational planning, including an emergency call function with location transmission. - Rugged housing
Pager F.R.E.D. features an IP64-certified, dustproof and splash-proof housing with a practical belt clip. A specially developed charging cradle provides inductive charging, and the high-performance battery ensures a convenient battery life of around 48 hours. The pager receiver operates in temperature ranges from –20°C to 60°C. - Easy operation
F.R.E.D. can be operated intuitively using just a few buttons and clear menu navigation. With its bright, wide-view display, every user can immediately grasp all alert texts at a glance, even in unfavorable environments. In addition, the pager is equipped with a separate emergency call button. When pressed, the current location is transmitted directly via GPS. - Straightforward remote maintenance
Via the mobile interface, users can easily perform the required configurations and software updates over the air. They can start updates either themselves or centrally via the server. Another important security feature: in the event of loss, the pager is locked or unlocked remotely, and a text note – for example, the user’s contact details – provides additional information.
